Boberg出生於瑞典的Kisa, Ostergotland。先後在瑞典Jonkoping的瑞典宣教聯盟聖經學院（Swedish Alliance Mission Bible Institute 1919至1920年）以及美國的伊利諾斯州的芝加哥慕迪神學院學習，爲宣教做準備。從1922年到1951年，Boberg作爲瑞典五旬節教會的傳教士，在內蒙古服待。在內蒙古，Boberg除了從事宣教，同時也編纂詞典，他備受稱讚的成果，就是三卷本的蒙英詞典（Mongolian-English Dictionary, 1954）。數家瑞典基金會（如朗曼文化基金會，The Lang-mans Cultural Fund）支持他出版自己編纂的詞典。
