日本語の直訳： 水を飲まない牛の頭を押さえるな、言葉の分からない人間の頭をなでるな
英語の直訳： Do not press the head of an ox that will not drink, do not stroke the head of a man who will not hear
解説： 飲む気のない牛と、聞く耳を持たない人間、いずれも無理強いはできないと並べて示す。
英語の解説： Pairs the ox that will not drink with the man who will not listen: neither can be forced.
