үг мэдэхгүй хүнд, үг хэлэх, үхрийн эвэрт, тариа цацсан адил

道理のわからない者に、言葉をかけるのは、牛の角に、穀物を撒くようなものだ

Speaking to a man who will not understand is like scattering grain on an ox's horn

үг хатуу ч явдалд тустай, эм гашуун ч биед тустай

言葉は厳しくても行いに役立ち、薬は苦くても体に良い

Words though hard are helpful for actions, Medicine though sour is helpful for the body

үгүйрэхгүй баян, эрдмээс, үхэхгүй цол, ажлаас

尽きることのない金持ちは才能、消えることのない称号は仕事から

Inexhaustible wealth comes from learning, an undying title from work

үзсэн нь далай, үзээгүй нь балай

見た者は海のよう、見なかった者は愚か

The one who saw is like an ocean, The one who did not see is a fool

үзээгүй юмаа үзэж, үстэй толгойгоо зулгаах

経験したことのないことを経験し、髪を抜く思いをする

Experiencing what you have not experienced, Pull out your hair

үйл бүтээхэд уран хүн, үг бүтээхэд цэцэн хүн

仕事を作り出すのは器用な人、言葉を作り出すのは賢い人

For making things, the skilled man; for making words, the wise man

үл ойлгох хүнд сургаал хэрэггүй, үхэр хариулах хүнд унаа хэрэггүй

理解しない人に教えは不要、牛を追う人に乗り物は不要

To a person who will not understand, teaching is not needed; To a person who will herd the cows, a ride is not needed

үнэн үг хатуу боловч хэтийн амьдралд тустай, давс шорвог боловч идээний амтанд найртай

真実の言葉は厳しいが将来に役立つ；塩は辛いが料理に味をつける

Though the true word is difficult, it is helpful for life in the future; Though salt is strong, it gives taste for the meal

үнэн үг чихэнд хатуу, үхрийн шил шүдэнд хатуу

真実の言葉は耳に痛く、牛の首筋は歯に硬い

A true word is hard in the ear, Nape of cow's neck is hard for teeth

үнэр мэдэхгүй хүнд, зандан хайран

香りを知らない人に白檀はもったいない

Sandalwood is wasted on the person who does not appreciate aroma

Үхэр чихрийн амт мэдрэхгүй

牛は飴の味が分からない。

An ox cannot perceive the taste of candy.

үхэртэй баянаас нөхөртэй баян, эдийн баянаас эрдмийн баян, эрдэм билэг эрхэм баян

牛に富むより友に富み、財に富むより学に富み、知恵こそ尊い富

Better rich in friends than in cattle, better rich in learning than in goods; wisdom is the noblest wealth

үхэх хүний үгийг авдаг, үхсэн малын ширийг ав

死にゆく者の遺言を受け入れ、死んだ家畜の皮を受け取れ

Take the words of a dying man, take the hide of a dead beast

үхэх хүний үгийг сонс, алах үхрийн цусыг ав

死にゆく人の言葉を聞き、屠られる牛の血を取れ

Listen to the words of a dying person, Take the blood of a cow being slaughtered

өгөрсөн мод үндэс нь ялзарвал унах, тастаж авсан өвс үндэслэж ургах

枯れ木は根が腐れば倒れ、引きちぎった草は根を下ろして育つ

The withered tree falls when its root rots, the torn grass roots again and grows

өдөр явсан явдлаа шөнө цэнэ, өглөө хийсэн ажлаа орой хяна

昼にした事を夜に省み、朝にした事を夕に検討せよ

Meditate at night on what you did during the day, Think in the evening on the things you did in the morning

өндөр уулын нөмөр сайхан, өвгөн хүний түшиг сайхан

高い山は風よけに良く、老人は頼りになる

A high mountain is good for shelter, An old man is good for support

өсөхөд сурсан эрдэм, өглөөний нар мэт

若い時に学んだ知識は朝日のよう

The knowledge you learned when you were growing up becomes like the morning sun

өтлөхөд сурсан эрдэм, оройн нар мэт

老いて学んだ知識は夕日のよう

The knowledge you have learned when you get old becomes like the evening sun

өтөлтлөө ухаангүй, буцалтлаа шөлгүй

老いるまで賢くならず、沸騰するまでスープにならない

Not wise until aged, Not soup until boiled

өтөлтөл ухаан орохгүй, үлтэртэл шөл гарахгүй

年老いるまで分別がつかず、すり切れるまで出汁が出ない

Sense does not come until old age, broth does not come until the bone is worn

өчүүхэн эрдэмтний омог их, бага голын боргио их, их эрдэмтэн омоггүй, их мөрөн боргиогүй

学問の浅い者は傲慢さが大きく、浅い川は瀬音が大きく、学問の深い者は傲慢さがなく、大河は瀬音がない

The slight scholar's pride is great and the small river's roar is great; the great scholar has no pride and the great river no roar

өөрөө мэддэг—мэддэггүй ч, өрөөлөөсөө сурсан нь цэцэн

自分が知っているにせよ知らないにせよ、他人から学んだ者が賢い

Whether he knows or does not, the one who has learned from others is wise
