Synonyms: C. ferus (see Wilson and Reeder (1993) for further details). Preliminary genetic research indicates that wild Bactrian camels may represent a distinct species from domestic Bactrian camels (Han et al., 2002), although further taxonomic research is required.

хавтгай тэмээ は野生のフタコブラクダ（Camelus ferus）を指す名称で、зэрлэг тэмээ または単に хавтгай ともいう。家畜のフタコブラクダとは別の野生種である。モンゴルではアルタイ南麓のゴビやゴビ大保護区周辺に分布する。

Explanation
хавтгай тэмээ is another Mongolian name for the wild Bactrian camel (Camelus ferus), also called хавтгай or зэрлэг тэмээ. It is a distinct wild species from the domestic Bactrian camel. In Mongolia, it occurs mainly in the Gobi south of the Altai and around the Great Gobi protected areas.
